Introduction

Citations must be used when appropriate with MLA formatting. Be sure to answer the prompt as completely as possible. Always be sure to use specific examples in support of your answer. Assume an audience that has a basic understanding of music, but not necessarily one with a college degree in music, and certainly not a professor of music (in other words, be clear in your explanations). Refer to the rubric that is attached to the assignment (preferably before you write) for additional guidelines. In a short essay, minimum 400 words (excluding quotations), answer the following prompt: Describe the various components of opera, commenting on the function of each in the drama.
