Interpreting Kierkegaardian Despair

 1) For this week’s Discussion you must post a reflection that addresses which kind of despair in Kierkegaard you identify with the most and why. For example, do you identify more with the existential despair yielded from the push and pull you feel trapped between infinity and finitude, or, do you identify more with the existential despair yielded from the push and pull you feel trapped between, say, the need for things to be a certain way and things to be kept indefinitely open (“The world’s your oyster!”). You must also reply to a fellow classmate’s post explaining how their post helped you understand Kierkegaard better than you did at first by yourself. 2) Think of a moral or value that you see society holding in high esteem. Given certain trends in society and technology, for instance, how do you predict that moral or value changing in the future? In a short paragraph (5-6 sentences describe your views. Your Reflection must include your original post plus a comment to someone else’s post detailing how their post helped enlighten your understanding of Nietzsche’s view on morality and value theory.) (This Discussion Forum is worth 4% of your overall grade in the course. 2% for your response and 2% for your response to one of your peers detailing how their response helped you understand Nietzsche better than you did upon first encounter.)
