ASSESSMENT 2: CONCEPT MAPS (WORTH 40%)
Due date: Wednesday the 24th September by 4pm
Aim: The aim of this assessment is twofold. Firstly, the concept maps are designed to help you to
develop a deeper understanding of the unit content, as well as the relationships between and within
each of the topics. In doing this task you also have the opportunity to learn a new computer
program. Second, you will learn the importance of developing the ability to reflect on your own
performance and appreciate the complexities of developing and applying an assessment tool. This
understanding is core to psychological practice, as well as self-development and self-directed
6x Concept Maps as image files using a concept mapping program (1 map for each of the 6 topics in
this unit). Image files to be uploaded on Moodle via the upload link under week 12.
The six topics for this unit are as follows:
1. Psychology as a Science
2. Biological Bases of Behaviour (Genetics and Neuropsychology)
3. Learning Principles
6. Motivation and Emotion
Assessment Description: Create six concept maps (one for each of the six topics taught in this unit).
You are then required to self-assess your work, and submit your self-assessment marks along with a
written rationale for the marks that you have assigned your work (see Assessment 3).
